Suggested Itinerary

Day 1
Depart school by coach, travel to Belfast for sailing to Stranraer. Arrive Stranraer and continue by coach to Newcastle for your overnight sailing to Amsterdam with DFDS Seaways departing at 1730 hours. Cabins provided.

Day 2
0930 hours Arrive Amsterdam where your group may like to spend the morning perhaps visiting Anne Frank’s House or the Amsterdam Ajax Arena before
continuing to your Rhineland Hotel in the afternoon.

Day 3
Full day tour of the Rhine Valley with Boat Trip. Travel to St Goar via the two castles of Burg Maus and Burg Katz where you can visit the castle ruins of Burg Rheinfels. Visit the pretty town of Boppard. Return to hotel via Rudesheim where you can visit
Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum.

Day 4
Full day visit to Phantasialand theme park. Alternatively today take an excursion westwards along the Moselle river commencing your journey in the village of Moselkern to visit the fairytale castle of Burg Eltz and on to Cochem where you can
take the chairlift up the Pinnerkreuz Hill, continue then to Trier, Germany’s oldest city and birthplace of Karl Marx.

Day 5
Free time this morning for shopping before commencing your return journey to Amsterdam - if you wish you could depart early this morning and enjoy a few hours in Amsterdam before your sailing. 1800 hours Depart Amsterdam on your
return overnight sailing to Newcastle.

Day 6
0900 hours Arrive Newcastle and continue by coach to Stranraer. Sailing Stranraer/Belfast and coach to school.

Accommodation

Koblenz-Stolzenfels

This small village, dominated by its castle, lies approximately 8 km south of the city of Koblenz with a marvellous view across the river to Lahnstein.

HOTEL RHEINTAL
This family run hotel offers very comfortable accommodation in mainly three to four bedded rooms, all of which have private facilities. The hotel consists of a traditional style main building with a more modern wing attached. Groups can enjoy the
spectacular river views from the dining area - there is also a friendly bar area and television room where videos can be shown. Sister hotel also available in Bad Salzig.

St Goarshausen

The delightful Loreley town of St Goarshausen on the east bank of the Rhine is a splendid excursion base for our school groups. The town is situated at the foot of the historic Burg Katz and Burg Maus and affords wonderful views down the Rhine Valley.

POHL’S RHEINHOTEL ADLER
This attractive hotel is centrally located directly by the Rhine, with superb views of Rheinfels Castle as well as Burg Katz and Maus. Groups are accommodated in mainly three to four bedded
rooms, all with private facilities and the hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, sun terrace, video and TV.
